Qiang Wu is a full professor of physics. He is also serving as an advisor of Boling Class, a partner of Pilot Scheme of Talent Training in Basic Sciences of China from 2010, a member of editor board of Scientific Reports from 2013, and an executive member of Tianjin Society of Physics from 2017. He received the B.S. degree in physics in 2000, the Ph.D. degree in condensed physics in 2005 from Nankai University advised by Prof. Jingjun Xu. He then went to Tufts University and MIT where he did postdoctoral research with Prof. Keith Nelson on THz phonon polariton. After got his Ph.D. degree in 2005, he leads a group in Nankai University for the research of ultrafast photonics and photoelectric materials & devices.

Research direction:

At present, he is mainly focusing on the research of ultrafast photonics and photoelectric materials & devices. Especially in the research area of THz phonon polariton, hyperdoped materials & devices, he has a series of research results. His research work has resulted in more than 60 peer-reviewed journal publications and 10 patents, including 1 U. S. patent. He won some scientific awards, including Achievement Award of the Ministry of Education of China (2001). He has given tens invited talks on academic conferences and hosted some conferences as chapter chairman.

Interested fields: ultrafast optics and photonics, condensed matter physics, micro-nano optics, photoelectric materials and devices. Mainly focusing on: 1. Femtosecond laser hyperdoping crystals and devices; 2. Terahertz phonon polariton; 3. Ultrafast dynamics and ultrafast imaging.

As a teacher, his wish is to make students’ dreams come true. As a scientist, his dream is to make the future happen.
