报告摘要:Light propagation in photonic lattices of coupled waveguides is governed by the paraxial wave equation, which closely resembles the two-dimensional Schrodinger equation. This enables the study of analogies with various quantum and condensed matter systems, providing novel ways to control the flow of light in photonics. I will review some of my recent work on observing various topological phenomena in photonics including Dirac cones, Weyl points, and non-Hermitian topological phases, as well as discuss prospects for nanophotonic device applications.

报告人简介:Dr Daniel Leykam completed his PhD in 2015 in the Nonlinear Physics Centre at The Australian National University and was awarded the Bragg Medal for his thesis. He then worked as a postdoctoral fellow for two years at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and now leads a junior research team at the Institute for Basic Science, South Korea, where he is supported by a Young Science Fellowship. He has published 32 articles, including 1 in Nature Physics and 7 in Physical Review Letters.
